|Iran to send aid to Muslims of Central African Republic: official||
TEHRAN – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian has said that Iran will soon send humanitarian assistance to the Muslim refugees in the Central African Republic.
The massacres of Muslims in the CAR are the result of wrong policies and some foreign interventions, Abdollahian said on Tuesday.
He went on to say that the killing of innocent Muslims of the Central African Republic is due to religious bigots’ incitement of people who have lived together peacefully for decades.
This is in line with the Islamophobia scenario, he added.
Abdollahian stated that Christian extremism in the CAR is the continuation of extremism among Muslims.
The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns both the Christian extremism of the Anti-balaka militia and the Islamic extremism of the Seleka group in the Central African Republic, he said.
He went on to say that the current situation in the CAR has laid the groundwork for ethnic cleansing in Southern Africa, adding that collective efforts should be made to prevent a repetition of the Rwandan Genocide.
The Central African Republic has been facing a crisis since December 2013, when the Christian Anti-balaka militia launched attacks against the mostly Muslim Seleka group.
Many Muslims have fled to other parts of the Central African Republic or to other countries to avoid being killed by the Christian militia.
