|Iran, Russia draw up draft protocol to build 2 new nuclear plants in Bushehr||
TEHRAN - Behrouz Kamalvandi, the spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), announced on Wednesday that Iran and Russia has prepared a draft protocol according to which at least 2 new nuclear power plants will be built near the first unit of the Bushehr nuclear power station.
The draft protocol was prepared during a meeting in Tehran on Tuesday between Kamalvandi and Nikolai Spassky, the deputy director of Rosatom company.
Kamalvandi said the protocol should be signed by AEOI director Ali Akbar Salehi and Rosatom director general Sergy Kirienko.
He added that he will make a trip to Moscow in near future to provide the preliminaries for signing and implementing the protocol.
Spassky arrived in Tehran on Tuesday at the head of a delegation and left for Moscow on Wednesday.
Russia built the first unit of the Bushehr nuclear power plant. The agreement was signed on August 25, 1992.
