|Rouhani urges expansion of relations with Tajikistan||
TEHRAN – Iran attaches high importance to the progress and development of Persian speaking countries, President Hassan Rouhani said on Monday, emphasizing the need to strengthen Iran-Tajikistan relations.
He made the remarks during a meeting with Tajik Foreign Minister Sirodjidin Aslov in Tehran.
Rouhani said his “government of prudence and hope” seeks to expand ties with Tajikistan, adding the two Persian-speaking countries have great potential to enhance their political, cultural and economic relations.
The economic opportunities that exist in two countries have provided a good chance for investors and chambers of commerce to implement joint projects, the Iranian president suggested.
During the meeting, Aslov also submitted a letter from his country’s President Emomalii Rahmon to Rouhani officially inviting him to make a trip to Tajikistan.
He said that Tajikistan seeks to enhance relations with Iran, adding that Rouhani’s trip to Tajikistan would help expansion of ties.
Foreign Minister Aslov arrived in Tehran on Sunday. He held talks with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif and other high-ranking Iranian officials.
