Hamid Baeidinejad, the head of the Iranian delegation, also said that the discussions helped the two sides better understand each other’s views.

He added that technical solutions and thorough expert discussions will help negotiators make important decisions at the political level.

The expert-level talks, held from Thursday to Saturday at the United Nations complex in Vienna, were meant to prepare for the next round of political-level talks on Tehran’s nuclear program which will begin on Monday in the Austrian capital.

The talks are meant to build on an interim deal reached between Iran and the major powers in Geneva in November 2013, according to which Iran agreed not to expand its nuclear program for six months in exchange for limited sanctions relief.
