|Iranian MPs: European Parliament resolution can have negative effect on nuclear talks||
TEHRAN – More than 200 Iranian MPs issued a statement on Sunday condemning the European Parliament’s resolution against Iran, a member of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee said on Sunday.
Mohammad Hassan Asafari said the resolution by the European Parliament constitute a clear example of interference in Iran’s internal affairs.
The MP said in the statement it has been stated that such moves can “negatively” affect the ongoing nuclear talks between Iran and the West.
He said the resolution was a “historical mistake” by the European Parliament.
If the European Parliament cares about human rights, it should issue a resolution on the situation of prisoners in Guantanamo, the mass killings of Muslims in the Central African Republic, Syria and Myanmar, he stated.
In its resolution on Thursday, the European Parliament accused Iran of “continued, systemic violation of fundamental rights”.
It is claimed in the resolution that the presidential election in Iran in July 2013 did not conform to European standards.
The resolution was followed by Iranian officials’ reactions.
