TEHRAN – The speedboats of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Naval Force have been equipped with Qader cruise missiles, the deputy commander of the IRGC Naval Force said in an interview with the Fars News Agency published on Monday.
In addition, Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri said that the helicopters of the force have also been equipped with short-range cruise missiles.
The Qader is an anti-ship cruise missile with a range of more than 200 kilometers which has been designed and manufactured by Iranian experts. The missile has a high destructive ability against coastal targets and is also capable of targeting warships.
In September 2013, Iran unveiled the air-launched version of the Qader cruise missile.
The equipment of the speedboats of the IRGC, which operate in the Persian Gulf, with cruise missiles would significantly increase the country’s deterrence capability.
