|Latvian FM to visit Tehran soon||
TEHRAN – Latvian Foreign Minister Edgar Rinkevich is scheduled to pay an official visit to Iran in the near future, the Fars News Agency reported on Friday.
According to the report, the Latvian diplomat will head a high-ranking political and economic delegation to Tehran and will hold a number of meetings with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif, President Hassan Rouhani, and Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani on a range of issues.
It would be the first visit of a high ranking official of the north European country to Iran since it declared the restoration of independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.
Latvia is a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the European Union, the United Nations, Council of Europe, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the World Trade Organization (WTO).
