|Iran says strong ties with Belarus will benefit regional stability||
TEHRAN – Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Wednesday that Iran gives great importance to expansion of ties with Belarus which in effect will help promote regional stability.
He made the remarks during a meeting with the Belarusian speaker of National Assembly, Anatoly Rubinov, in Minsk.
In the current volatile situation in Eastern Europe - an indirect reference to the conflict between Ukraine and Russia which has put the West and the East against each other - it is in the favor of the two countries to increase political and economic relations, Larijani said.
Larijani also called for close cooperation between parliaments of the two countries.
He added that Iran has a high respect for Belarus, particularly Minsk’s independent position toward regional and international issues.
Rubinov, for his part, said Minsk attaches high importance to expansion of relation with Tehran.
He voiced content over Larijani and his accompanying delegation’s tour to Belarus and said such trips will help strengthen cooperation.
This trip is so important and productive that can open new chapter in relations between the two countries, he said.
The Iranian parliamentary team, chaired by Larijani, arrived in Minsk on Wednesday to hold talks with Belarusian officials. It left for Tehran on Thursday.
