During a joint press conference between visiting Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Samuel Santos LopezI and his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif on Monday, the two sides said efforts should be made to increase business ties between the two countries.
“The government of prudence and hope is seriously and firmly taking measures to increase and strengthen its relations with Nicaragua and President Daniel Ortega,” Zarif said.
The Iranian foreign minister added that Iran has established “very good” relations with Nicaragua and other Latin American countries and it will enhance its relations with political will.
Zarif also hailed Nicaragua’s support for Iran in the international arena, saying the two countries have stood by each other over the past 30 years.
The Nicaraguan foreign minister, for his part, explained about a number of investment opportunities for Iranian businessmen and the private sector in his country.
Elsewhere in his remarks, LopezI touched upon Iran’s nuclear energy program, saying his country has always recognized and supported the country’s nuclear activities.
