|Italian parliamentary team holds talks with Velayati||
TEHRAN – The senior foreign policy advisor to the Supreme Leader highlights the importance of parliamentary ties between Iran and Italy.
In a meeting with members of an Italian parliamentary delegation in Tehran on Saturday, Ali Akbar Velayati said that promotion of relations between the two countries’ parliaments will help increase cooperation.
He attached high importance to the trip by the Italian delegation and said it will help improve relations.
Velayati, a former foreign minister, expressed hope that such trips would continue in the future.
For his part, the head of the Italian delegation, Ettore Rosato, said that historical relations between Iran and Italy are a source of honor for his country.
He voiced hope that Iran’s relations with the international community would improve and called for a strengthening of Rome’s ties with Iran.
The Italian delegation arrived in Tehran on May 3 at the invitation of Iranian Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Committee chairman Alaeddin Boroujerdi.
