Hojatoleslam Majid Ansari was referring to Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his team, who are negotiating with partners from the six major powers (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) in order to resolve the dispute over Tehran’s nuclear program which the West has used as an excuse to lead harsh sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
“This team, through prudence and cleverness, forced the enemy to back down (from its position) and caused a crack in the ‘wall of sanctions’ and some segments the Iranian assets frozen abroad are being released,” the cleric advisor noted.
Ansari went on to say that the Iranian nation does not deserve to be under “unjust sanctions”.
The West has been leading economic sanctions against Iran. It has also introduced sanctions against the Iranian central bank and limited the country’s oil exports.
Ansari said the Iranian nation “does not deserve” that their oil revenues be frozen abroad or being put under sanctions.
