TEHRAN - A top military commander said on Saturday that Iran will unveil a domestically manufactured radar system which is capable of detecting stealth aircraft.
“A radar system special to detecting stealth aircraft, which has been developed by young and specialist forces despite conditions caused by sanctions, will be used to counter stealth aircraft,” Press TV quoted Farzad Esmaili, commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base, as saying.
The commander said the radar system will be unveiled on September 1, the day marking the anniversary of the establishment of the air defense base.
The brigadier general also said that 3600 places in the country are protected by air defense system.
The general went on to say that “we have achieved substantial progresses in manufacturing and designing radars, missiles, drones and other equipment,” he said. “The technology for building (such systems) has been made possible by young people of the country.”
