Rouhani assesses his foreign policy record as successful in improving ties with neighbors, others

He made the remarks in a joint meeting of cabinet members and governors in Tehran on Wednesday.
He also assessed the his administration’s foreign policy credentials as successful in improving relations with neighboring countries and other countries in the world. 
“The most important criterion for us is the protection of the country’s interests and we seriously follow this path by guarding values and national dignity,” the president stated.
He also called on governors to promote tourism in the country by making proper plans. He added natural and historical, and pilgrimage sites have provided the ground for attracting tourists. 
Rouhani also referred to Lake Urmia which its water has dried up greatly, saying it is an environmental problem which can affect a vast part of the country.
Lake Urmia is the third largest salt water lake on earth whose water has dried up more than 70 percent over the past few years.
He also said the drying lagoons and dust storms, which mostly originate from deserts in Iraq, Syria and Saudi Arabia, are an important irritant which entail special attention by officials.
