“We have clear red lines in the talks. We have not abandoned them and will not (do so). But we will take the path that (will help) the talks continue and achieve results,” MP Hossein Naqavi-Hosseini, the spokesman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, quoted Larijani as saying during a meeting of the committee on Sunday.
Larijani also said that the Western countries were seeking to take away Iran’s nuclear rights, but they were not successful and Iran was able to effectively preserve its rights.
“Sanctions, pressure, and threats only made our nation more powerful,” he said.
On the sticking points in the talks on a comprehensive nuclear deal, Larijani said there are wide differences over some issues, including the number of centrifuges, the Fordow uranium enrichment facility, the Arak heavy-water reactor, the duration of the final deal, and the timeline for lifting the sanctions against the country.
