|Rouhani calls on Islamic states to help Palestinians||
TEHRAN – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has called on the Islamic countries to rush to the help of the Palestinian people and help put an immediate end to the siege of the Gaza Strip by the Zionist regime of Israel.
In his message to the heads of the Islamic countries on Thursday, Rouhani said that “continuation of the cruel siege” of the Gaza Strip and lack of medical supplies and the impossibility of sending humanitarian aid there could lead to a “terrible human catastrophe”.
All the international institutions and freedom seeking countries bear the “common responsibility” to help the Palestinian people and prevent the Zionist regime from taking aggressive actions, he stated.
The Islamic countries bear double responsibility in this respect, the Iranian president added.
Rouhani also said it is necessary that Islamic countries show unity in the face of enemies.
The Israeli Air Force has been waging a mass military assault since Tuesday morning against different parts of Gaza.
The raids have so far resulted in the killing of at least 100 Palestinians, including women and children. According to Palestinian medical sources, nearly 700 Palestinians have also been injured so far.
Gaza has also responded by launching rockets against Israeli towns and cities.
FM Zarif writes UN, OIC, Arab League chief on Israeli crimes
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has also called on the United Nations, Arab League and Organization of the Islamic Cooperation to take firm action to stop the Tel Aviv regime from committing more crimes.
Zarif issued the call in his letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, OIC Secretary General Iyad Bin Amin Madani, and Arab League chief Nabil Elaraby.
He stated that such acts by Israel will definitely jeopardize peace and security in the region.
Undoubtedly, the international community and regional and international institutions are duty bound to condemn the Zionist regime’s criminal acts and prevent it from carrying out attacks, Zarif added.
