|Iran takes measures to return Mohammad Reza Khavari||
TEHRAN – The head of the State Inspectorate Organization of Iran has said that he has consulted with the Canadian ombudsman to help return one of the biggest embezzlers of the country’s banking history.
Nasser Seraj told the ISNA news agency on Saturday that Canada should abide by international conventions in fighting corruption and take measures to return Mahmoud Reza Khavari to Iran.
Khavari, the former CEO of Iran’s Melli Bank, is one of the main suspects in the biggest embezzlement case, estimated at as much as $2.6 billion, in the country’s banking history. He flew to Canada in 2011.
