|Britain to reopen embassy in Tehran soon||
TEHRAN - Mohammad Hassan Habibollahzadeh, the Iranian non-resident chargé d’affaires to Britain, has said that the British embassy in Tehran will be reopened soon and all sections of the Iranian embassy in London will also be active in the near future.
Iran and Britain are holding talks to reopen the British embassy in Tehran, Habibollahzadeh said, the ICANA news agency reported on Friday.
He noted that the consular section of the Iranian embassy in London was reopened last year and is providing consular services.
Britain ordered the closure of the Iranian embassy in London after closing its embassy in Tehran following the storming of the compound by angry students in November 2011. The students were protesting against the Western sanctions imposed on Tehran over its nuclear program and Britain’s hostile policies toward Iran.
Diplomatic ties between the two countries were revived in November last year when Britain appointed a non-resident charge d'affaires to Tehran after Iran and the major powers reached an interim deal over Iran’s nuclear program.
Currently, the relationships between Iran and Britain are at the level of non-resident charge d'affaires.
