|U.S. warns about possible oil-for-goods deal between Iran, Russia||
TEHRAN – A senior U.S. Treasury Department official says a possible oil-for-goods deal between Iran and Russia could have an impact on the talks over Tehran’s nuclear program, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.
“It’s almost certain that any entity involved in the deal would open themselves up to certainly U.S. sanctions, and possibly others. It’s possible that such a deal could have an impact on the...talks. We’ve raised this with the highest levels of the Russian government,” said David Cohen, the Treasury Department’s Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence.
“We have been absolutely clear for the better part of six months...that if the Russians and the Iranians were to move forward with such a deal it would raise serious concerns,” he added.
