|Israel’s assault on Gaza is killing of humanity: Rouhani||
TEHRAN – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has said that the bombardment of schools and the mutilation of Palestinian children are undoubtedly clear examples of “genocide” and the catastrophe in the Gaza Strip is not only the “killing of humans” but also the “killing of humanity”.
Rouhani made the remarks in a message to a gathering of a large group of Iranian children who staged a protest in Tehran on Thursday to express solidarity with Palestinian children.
Israel is conducting intensive attacks on the Gaza Strip. The death toll is approaching 1900, with women and children the main victims.
Iranian children’s support for Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip is rooted in Iranians’ Islamic culture, civilization, and moral character, Rouhani noted.
Based on this humanitarian attitude, Iranian children express “sympathy” with Palestinian children, he added.
The Iranian president also criticized Western countries and some international institutions for their double standards toward the grave situation in Gaza.
The Iranian children’s voice is the voice of “human conscience”, Rouhani stated.
He went on to say that this is the voice that condemns organized crime and the world’s indifference and double standards in international interactions.
Iran FM sends message to Iranian children’s gathering
In a message to the same gathering, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that killing children can only be practiced by “brutal bloodthirsty people” who do not respect humanitarian principles.
He added that no child in the world can even for a moment bear to witness the tears of innocent children who are being killed or displaced just because they are Palestinians.
In solidarity with Palestinian children, Iranian children express their abhorrence of the “child killer” Zionist regime, Zarif said.
Tehran Mayor Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, and Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Larijani also sent messages to the gathering.
