|Lithuania seeking to expand ties with Iran||
TEHRAN – The Lithuanian parliament backs efforts meant to expand relations between Tehran and Vilnius, Lithuanian Deputy Parliament Speaker Algirdas Sysas said on Sunday.
The ground is prepared for enhancing political and economic relations between the two countries, Sysas said during a meeting with Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani in Tehran.
He also said, “The Lithuanian parliament is hopeful that relations between European countries and the Islamic Republic of Iran would improve.”
Larijani, for his part, said that increased parliamentary relations between Iran and Lithuania would pave the way for the expansion of political, economic, and cultural relations between the two countries.
He also underlined the need for the continuation of consultations between Iranian and Lithuanian officials on regional and international issues.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Larijani called for increased cooperation between the private sectors of Iran and Lithuania in order to help boost economic ties between the two countries.
