|Opportunity given by Iran to 5+1 not endless: Rouhani||
TEHRAN – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday that the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) should know that the opportunity granted by Iran to the group to break the impasse over the nuclear dispute is not an endless one.
Rouhani again insisted that Iran is serious in its nuclear talks and expressed hope that other side would also show determination to resolve the protracted dispute.
Iran and the six major powers failed to meet the self-imposed July 20 deadline to strike a final and comprehensive nuclear deal, thus in the last round of talks in Vienna last month the two sides agreed to extend the talks until November 24.
Based on the interim nuclear deal, known as the Joint Plan of Action (JOPA), which was signed between Iran and the major powers in November last year some sanctions against Iran were eased. Accordingly, Iran agreed to slow down its nuclear activities.
Rouhani said Iran has taken great steps in lifting some sanctions, adding that under no circumstances the sanctions regime will return to the previous state.
The president stated that Iran’s economic plans have been drawn up based on the current situation and a continuation of sanctions.
He added that reaching a comprehensive agreement will serve the interests of all sides but a continuation of the sanctions is detrimental to all.
Western and regional countries acknowledge that the sanctions are hurting their economies and lifting them will benefit the entire region, he stated.
