|Rouhani orders a halt to Antonov-74 flights||
TEHRAN – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has issued an order that Antonov-74 planes must be grounded due to safety reasons.
Mohammad Ali Ilkhani, the CEO of Iran’s Airports Company, announced the news in an interview with the ISNA news agency on Saturday.
The decision has been made after a domestically assembled version of the Antonov-140, known as Iran-140, crashed in Tehran last week, killing 40 people on board.
The president has also ordered a halt to all flights of Iran-140 until the crash is fully investigated.
Ilkhani said that the safety of flights should be boosted to decrease the risks posed by airports within city limits, including Mehrabad Airport.
