Mohammad Ali Ilkhani, the CEO of Iran’s Airports Company, announced the news in an interview with the ISNA news agency on Saturday.

The decision has been made after a domestically assembled version of the Antonov-140, known as Iran-140, crashed in Tehran last week, killing 40 people on board.

The president has also ordered a halt to all flights of Iran-140 until the crash is fully investigated.

Ilkhani said that the safety of flights should be boosted to decrease the risks posed by airports within city limits, including Mehrabad Airport.
