|Iran to launch new domestically manufactured submarine||
TEHRAN – Iran plans to launch a new domestically manufactured submarine in the Iranian calendar month of Azar (November 22 to December 21), the commander of the Navy announced on Monday.
“The Fateh submarine, which is more advanced than the (Iranian-made) submarine of the Ghadir class, will be launched this Azar,” Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari told reporters.
The 600-ton submarine is of the semi-heavy class. The submarine, equipped with various advanced equipment including torpedoes and sonar systems, can operate in the depth of 200 meters beneath the water surface for almost five weeks.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Sayyari said the fact that Iran has been able to build destroyers that meet international standards is a great achievement.
“It is a great honor that the Islamic Republic of Iran has gained the capability to launch the production line of destroyers because we are now able to produce the equipment we need to be present in the open seas,” he said.
He went on to the say that Iranian experts are designing and manufacturing new destroyers which are more advanced than the Jamaran, Iran’s first domestically manufactured destroyer.
