“We are ready to improve our bilateral relations based on shared interests, honesty, and openness,” said Faisal on Sunday during a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Riyadh Hossein Sadeqi.

The Iranian ambassador submitted his credentials to the Saudi foreign minister and said that the Islamic Republic assigns a high priority to the expansion of ties with neighboring countries, including Saudi Arabia.

Separated by about 250 km of Persian Gulf waters, Shia Muslim power Iran and Sunni-led Saudi Arabia have often tense relations.
