|U.S. official in S. Korea to discuss Iran sanctions: report||
TEHRAN – U.S. Undersecretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence David Cohen has made a visit to South Korea this week to discuss the U.S.-imposed sanctions against Iran, Russia, and North Korea.
“I’ve come to Korea to continue the close collaboration and consultations between the U.S. government and (South) Korea on a range of issues where we share commitment,” Cohen said, according to the Korea Times.
“We’ve discussed issues regarding the DPRK [North Korea] as well as our joint efforts with respect to Iran,” he said during his two-day visit to Seoul that ended on Thursday.
Cohen runs the Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, which creates and administers the financial sanctions that the United States imposes on other countries. He pays regular visits to countries that have business ties with Iran and brief their top officials of the status of sanctions against the country.
