TEHRAN – Iran has written a letter to the United Nations warning about the consequences of the Zionist regime’s incursion into Iran’s airspace.

The warning was made to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Security Council President Mark Lyall Grant and General Assembly President John William Ashe.

On Sunday, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force shot down the Israeli spy drone before it could reach the Natanz nuclear enrichment facility in central Iran.

In his letter, Hossein Dehghani, the Iranian ambassador to the UN, said the Zionist regime’s act is a clear violation of Iran’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty which runs contrary to the international law and terms of the UN charter.

He also described the action as a threat against the peace and stability in the region and called on the international community, specifically the UN Security Council, to condemn it.

Dehghani said Iran reserves the right to take any defensive action in protecting its territory and warns about the consequences of such actions.

He called on the UN officials to publish his letter as a document in the UN Security Council.
