TEHRAN - In separate telephone conversations with Hamas political bureau chief Khaled Meshaal and Islamic Jihad Movement Secretary General Ramadan Abdullah Mohammad Shalah, Iranian officials have congratulated the Palestinian nation on their victory against Israel, praising their resistance in Israel’s seven-week bloodshed in the Gaza Strip.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani hailed the role of the Palestinian resistance in reaching a ceasefire deal with the Tel Aviv regime, describing the resistance as the “sole way to liberate the occupied lands and restore the rights of the Palestinian people.”

Larijani further termed the recent Israeli regime’s brutalities against the Palestinians in Gaza as “flagrant genocide and huge human catastrophe.”

The Iranian Majlis speaker also reiterated the Islamic Republic’s “all-out support” for the Palestinian people in their fight against the Zionist regime until the full liberation of occupied lands.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif praised the “heroic resistance” of Gazans.

The top Iranian diplomat called for the prosecution of the Israeli regime in international courts for committing “war crimes" against Palestinians and said the Zionist regime’s officials must stand trial for crimes they committed against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

Zarif further expressed hope that the recent triumph of resistance would pave the ground for broader achievements and the restoration of Palestinians rights, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state and the liberation of al-Quds (Jerusalem).

He also urged the international community to take concrete steps to rebuild the Gaza Strip, which was devastated in Israel’s nearly 50 days of aggression, reiterating the Islamic Republic preparedness to send humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said Tehran has always supported the resistance forces and will continue to do so until the full liberation of Palestine. Shamkhani added the recent victory is a “prelude to the liberation of al-Quds.”

Also Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehqan called the Palestinians victory against the Zionist regime an “honor” for the whole Islamic world.

For their part, the Palestinian leaders lauded Islamic Republic of Iran’s unwavering support for Palestinians, Gazans in particular, and highlighted Tehran’s role in the victories achieved by the Palestinian nation against the Zionist regime of Israel.

Israel launched an aerial military campaign against Gaza in early July and later expanded its operation with ground invasions.

After more than seven weeks of Israel’s war on Gaza, Palestinian resistance groups and Israeli officials on Tuesday reached an agreement on a permanent ceasefire for the besieged Gaza Strip.

Under the deal, Israel has agreed to ease the blockade on Gaza and open border crossings for more aid to pass through to the enclave. Palestinian resistance movement Hamas said the deal marks a victory.

At least 2,137 Palestinians, including around 570 children, were killed in the Israeli onslaught on Gaza. Some 11,000 others were wounded.

According to Tel Aviv regime, 69 Israelis were killed in the conflict, but Hamas puts the number at more than 150.
