|Israel will not emerge victorious in future wars: Iranian defense minister||
TEHRAN – The Iranian defense minister has hailed the victory of the Palestinian resistance groups against the latest Israeli assault on the impoverished Gaza Strip, saying the Tel Aviv regime would never emerge victorious in any future wars.
“The occupying Zionist regime will no longer be the winner of any wars, and it does not even have the power to decide on entering a new war. Its threats are only a political bluff,” Hossein Dehqan told the Defense Ministry's strategic council in Tehran on Monday.
He also praised the capabilities of the Palestinian resistance groups, saying that they had the upper hand and succeeded to achieve their goals in the face of seven-week long Israeli aggression, the Fars news agency reported.
Israel’s “humiliating defeat” in its war on the blockaded Gaza shows the failure of Washington’s policies, Dehqan said, adding that the time has come for the United States to accept the realities on the ground in the Middle East, stop supporting the Tel Aviv regime, and end meddling in the region’s affairs.
The Israeli military unleashed aerial attacks on Gaza in early July and later expanded its military campaign with a ground invasion into the coastal strip. Over 2,130 Palestinians, including around 570 children, lost their lives and some 11,000 were injured in the raids. The two sides reached a truce deal on August 26. Following the truce, joyous Palestinians streamed onto the streets of Gaza and celebrated their victory against the Israeli offensive.
