|Britain engaging with Iran to reopen embassies: Cameron||
TEHRAN – British Prime Minister David Cameron has said that the UK is engaging with Iran to reopen the embassies of the two countries.
He made the remarks during a session of parliament on Monday, when MP Jack Straw asked Cameron to comment on the actions he is taking for the full establishment of diplomatic relations with Iran.
Straw, the former foreign secretary, underlined that Britain needs Iranian cooperation more than ever, as it is one of the few stable states in the region.
In an article written in The Daily Telegraph on August16, Cameron had asserted that London needs to build alliances in the region, including Iran, to fight the militants of ISIL in Iraq.
Britain ordered the closure of the Iranian Embassy in London after closing its own in Tehran in 2011. However, the two countries decided to restore their ties after President Hassan Rouhani took office last year.
