TEHRAN – In a letter to the Majlis Presiding Board, MP Ali Motahhari has criticized the board members for pressing the MPs who have signed a motion to ask questions from the president to withdraw their signatures.
One hundred MPs have signed a motion to summon President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to the parliament to answer questions about a number of administration’s irregularities.
MP Ali Motahhari was the initiator of the motion.
However, members of the Majlis Presiding Board believe that in the current situation it is not in the national interest to summon the president to the Majlis because such a move would damage the relationship between the parliament and the administration.
