|People in region want to see the back U.S. forces: commander||
TEHRAN – Chairman of Iran’s Joint Chiefs of Staff Hassan Firouzabadi said on Saturday that the people in the region want to see the last of the U.S. forces.
“U.S. forces have no option but to leave Iraq because the people in the region can no longer tolerate the messengers of death and colonialism and the people who plunder their wealth,” Firouzabadi said in reference to U.S. President Barack Obama’s remarks on October 21, in which he announced that Pentagon will withdraw all U.S. forces from Iraq by the end of the year.
“The withdrawal of U.S. military forces from Iraq should be a prelude to the pullout of all U.S. forces from the region,” Firouzabadi pointed out.
Pointing to the protests on Wall Street, he said today the U.S. is faced with many internal problems and the people have the right to protest against the actions and decisions of their greedy rulers.
“If the U.S. government is committed to its claim of democracy, it should respond to the American nation’s demand, which is the implementation of fundamental reforms,” the top general remarked.
He went on to say that the problems facing the U.S. are so serious that could not be resolved through the withdrawal of forces from Iraq and Afghanistan.
“The expenses of the presence of U.S. military forces in Bahrain, the Sea of Oman, and the Persian Gulf are so high that the problems will not be cleared up even if Americans retreat from Iraq and Afghanistan,” he explained.
“The U.S. people should pressure their government to leave the region forever,” he added.
