TEHRAN – Four new political figures have been appointed to the principlists’ unity committee, announced a spokesman for the principlist heavyweight, the Combatant Clergy Association. “Abbas Kaabi and Hashem Hosseini-Bushehri from the Society of Qom Seminary Teachers and Reza Taqavi and Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabifard from the Combatant Clergy Association have been selected for the principlists’ committee,” Ahmad Salek told the Mehr News Agency on Saturday. The principlists’ committee, established to foster unity among principlists for the parliamentary election in March 2012, is supposed to be comprised of 15 members representing various principlist groups and parties. Three veteran politicians, namely former Majlis speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel, Supreme Leader’s top advisor Ali Akbar Velayati, and Habibollah Asgaroladi, secretary general of the Followers of Imam and Leadership Front, had previously been appointed to the committee. Former foreign minister Manouchehr Mottaki and first deputy Majlis Speaker Mohammad Reza Bahonar are also candidates for membership of the committee.
