Although the parliament went into summer recess, the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee held a meeting this morning about recent developments in the region with a special focus on Egypt, Sorouri told reporters on Tuesday.

On developments in Egypt, he said one of the public demands of the Egyptian people is that elections be held at an agreed time. However, he said sapping the demands of the people would be in tune with the policies of the Israel regime and its allies.

The MP said bringing the real culprits behind the crimes against Egyptians to trial can help decrease tensions in the country, he added.

On Bahrain, he said one should wait to see what measures the Al Khalifa family will adopt towards public demands.

“The release of political prisoners, the departure of foreign forces, particularly Saudi troops, from Bahrain, and the elimination of discrimination against people would help improve the political atmosphere in the country,” Sorouri noted.
