TEHRAN - Iranian Navy commandos foiled three attempted ship hijackings on Wednesday and Thursday. On Wednesday in the Bab el-Mandeb, a straight connecting the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden, a cargo ship was attacked by seven pirate boats but they were scared away by the Iranian Navy commandos. One hour and a half later, the ship was attacked by six pirate boats, but Iran’s Navy thwarted the attack and killed one pirate. On Thursday in the same area, the Iranian Navy commandos saved an Iranian oil tanker that was being attacked by seven pirate boats.
