TEHRAN, June 28 (MNA) – Iran’s first nuclear power plant is set to start up in early August, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Monday, AFP reported.
“The project has been completed and everything has been ironed out,” Ryabkov said.
“If this happens in the first days of August, it will fully meet our forecasts and expectations. And if it happens a few days later, there is nothing terrible about that,” he added.
On Sunday, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi had said that the Bushehr nuclear power plant will be connected to the national grid late August.
“This reactor will reach 40% of its power in mid Ramadan (mid August) and will be connected to the grid but the celebration of this connection will be held at the end of Ramadan,” Salehi said during a televised interview.
“This process, from the beginning to the time it (the plant) can produce electricity, will take 9 months or one year,” he noted.
