| Nabavi says Rafsanjani will remain EC chairman |

 TEHRAN – Morteza Nabavi, a member of the Expediency Council, has said that he thinks current EC Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani will remain in his post for the next term. He made the remarks during a visit to the Mehr News Agency office in Tehran on Wednesday. Nabavi said that the Supreme Leader will decide on the appointment of EC members for the next term. “Certainly the Supreme Leader, by making an appraisal of the performance of the current EC members, will decide on their appointment for the next term,” he added. Expediency Council was originally set up to resolve differences or conflicts between the Majlis and the Guardian Council, but its true power lies more in its advisory role to the Supreme Leader.
