Given the ill intent of the enemy to attack Iran's nuclear facilities, Fereydoun Abbasi said, "Through passive defense strategy, the Fordo enrichment facility is located under the ground as the Natanz nuclear site is."

"It is so costly for the enemy to damage this power plant," he stated in a question and answer session with the students of Homozgan University on Saturday night.

"Enemies have tried to damage our nuclear facilities through different plots including industrial disturbance and sending virus and particular signals," however, "our scientists have resisted all their plots," he explained.

Earlier on Saturday, Abbasi told the Mehr News Agency that the Fordo facility will start operating in the near future.

Abbasi said the Fordo facility, located near Qom, is able to produce 20 percent, 3.5 percent, and 4 percent enriched uranium "if it deems necessary."
