Jazayeri made the remarks during an interview with the Persian service of the Mehr News Agency on Tuesday in response to U.S. President Barack Obama’s remarks who said that diplomacy and not military intervention remains the “preferred solution” to the dispute over Iran’s nuclear program.

Jazayeri said that the Islamic Republic pursues its objectives and causes without considering the policy of carrot and stick of the U.S., adding that Washington’s peace or war message is worthless to Tehran and lacks strength for policymaking.

He went on to say that the U.S. and the Zionist regime are not capable of taking military action against Iran because they know how vulnerable they are to Tehran’s retaliatory measures.

The U.S. government is in such a pathetic situation that even their people hold street protests against the exploitative nature of the country’s governing system and chant slogans in support of the Islamic Republic, he said.
