|Enemies cannot defeat Syrian Army: Iran’s Armed Forces||
TEHRAN – The Iranian Armed Forces’ Headquarters issued a statement on Thursday saying that although the assassinations of the Syrian defense minister and some other security officials delivered a blow to the Arab country, each member of the Syrian Army is considered a defense minister and “the army of the enemy” will not be able to stand against “the army of resistance” that cherishes martyrdom.
“The Syrian nation and government have decided to withstand blackmail by the United States and its European and regional allies, and, so far, they have done so well. And despite great pressure that have been exerted on the country and the resistance movement by the global arrogance (forces of imperialism), the evil forces will have no alternative other than retreating, and, undoubtedly, the state terrorism (practiced) by the U.S. and the Zionist regime is doomed to failure,” part of the statement read.
It added that the hasty position that the U.S., Israel, reactionary Arab regimes, and the self-proclaimed advocates of human rights in Europe have taken toward the terrorist bomb attack in Syria clearly reveals their evil intention and their direct involvement in such incidents.
It also said that these countries will pay the price for spreading terrorism.
Weakening of Syrian Army will serve Israel’s interests: Iranian defense minister
Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi said on Thursday that the weakening of the Syrian Army through terrorist actions will only serve the interests of the Zionist regime.
“The weakening of the Syrian Army by terrorist groups or any other movement serves the Zionist regime and (undermines) the interests of the Syrian nation and the country,” Vahidi said during a telephone conversation with the new Syrian defense minister, General Fahad Jassim al-Freij.
The Iranian defense minister added, “We are sure that the powerful Syrian Army will disappoint the (hopes of) the United States and its regional allies, especially the Zionist regime, to achieve their vicious goals.”
“We have faith in the capability of the army and armed forces of Syria to establish security in the country,” Vahidi noted, adding, “The terrorists are not seeking democracy, but rather they want to create a safe zone for the Zionist regime.”
During the telephone conversation, the Syrian defense minister thanked Iran for its brave stance toward the Syrian issue and said that Syria, under Bashar al-Assad, is facing a “U.S.-Zionist plot” that is primarily aimed at undermining the core of the resistance movement against the Zionist regime.
He added that the terrorist attack that led to the assassination of the top Syrian military officials will “further strengthen the will of the Syrian Army in the fight against terrorists.”
