 TEHRAN – The deputy director of Environmental Protection Organization for natural environment and biodiversity announced the existence of more than 500 crocodiles in Iran.
In a meeting on Sunday, Ahmad Ali Keykha made a plea for help from all NGOs – locals, national NGOs and private sector - to extend protection programs of the reptiles as well as their breeding.
Keykha emphasized the importance of cooperation between Water and Water Waste Company and the Energy Ministry for a proper utilization of dams and water storages to protect and provide water for the crocodiles.
As measures taken to safeguard and save the animals, some crocodiles are being kept at a few protected areas, he said.
