Due to the fact that employment and marriage are the major problems of the youth, the presidential candidates have mostly focused on these two matters.

The candidate Hassan Rowhani calls the youth the great assets for the country’s development and says, “The approach towards the youth issue in social arenas should undergo drastic changes in policy-making and planning, and we must see these main national assets as an opportunity.”

Rowhani says every individual in the society, particularly the youth, should actively participate in all country’s affaires, and it’s essential to pave the way for such participation in all scenes.

“Today there are both spiritual (capabilities) and material resources in the country and one of them is youth. Every young man can create a job himself provided that these potentials are applied fully,” Saeed Jalili, another candidate, says.

Creating one million job opportunities

Pro-reform candidate Mohammad Reza Aref promises that among his priorities is to create at least one million jobs annually and “we have pre-planned a special program to solve the youth’s housing problem and lower the rate of unemployment.”

Aref says the housing problem is only one of the major concerns of the nation. Another issue, he said, is that the age of marriage which has increased by 5 years and this is rooted in unemployment and housing problem.

I will launch ‘easy marriage’ movement

Presidential candidate Gholam Ali Hadad Adel announces that if he wins the presidential contest he will make a movement for “easy marriage”.

Unfortunately marriage has turned into a “taboo” in the society and few people dare to marry these days.

I will resolve youth unemployment

Unemployment has remained one of major problems of the youth although previous presidents had promised to resolve the issue, presidential contender Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf says.

He says unemployment among university graduates stands at 29-30 percent
which has created hopelessness among them. “But I say with proper management we can resolve this problem.”

Providing welfare facilities can lower marriage age

Dr. Ali Akbar Velayati says the problem which youth are facing is the late marriage and this problem is rooted in economic hardship and unemployment.

Another presidential candidate Seyyed Mohammad Gharazi believes if the inflation problem is solved, there will be boost in the domestic production and that in turn can eventually resolve the unemployment among the youth.

Mohsen Rezaei, another candidate, says he will turn what he called “unknown youth” to national heroes and with the assistance of the same youth “we will remove the sanctions and solve inflation and unemployment and once again restore calmness and bring smile on Iranian’s faces.”
