A strong desire came all over me to leave home for my daily workout around 7 pm; although I had to postpone it until 8 to get some chores done around the house like my favorite ever washing dishes!
At 8.06 I left home to the park that is away from my apartment 6 minutes on foot. I had my English vocabulary notebook with me and I was ready to start my wonderful walk of the day that all of the sudden I came across a kitty cat. This time around I decided to slow down and observe the kitty for a few seconds only to realize that this kitty was a bit different. I got closer and noticed the cat couldn’t sense my presence. Little did I know the kitten had bleared eyes and her droopy eyelids couldn’t let her see anything.
I stuck around to assess her conditions. The more I looked at her the more I realized that I couldn’t leave the kitty alone. At some point, not seeing a step before her, the cat fell down and had two of her back legs up in the air and for a few seconds she stood on her two front legs to regain her control. It was a bitter and sweet moment. She looked so funny in that position and at the same time it was sad to see her eyes completely shut. I think if I had my camera with me that photo could turn out to be one of the funniest pictures of animals ever.
Anyhow, I decided to go around the park and look for help. At first, I hoped to find the veterinarian I had met a couple of years ago at the park, but I knew that wasn’t going to happen since I hadn’t seen him in the park for almost a year.
While searching for help many thoughts poured over me like continuing my walk and letting go of the kitty or getting home sooner to clean up and do my studies. But I figured how I could go to bed at night knowing I didn’t help a frail and ailing cat.
So I kept on looking for extra pair of hands to assist me clean the kitty’s eyes. I had seen the procedure done before so I figured it was not any biggie. Asking here and there I was directed to a man in yellow shirt, an animal lover apparently, who took care of the park’s cats.
With a bit of uncertainty I walked up to him and asked for his assistance. We both walked up to the cat and when he saw her with a big surprise he said that they had been looking for the kitten for almost three days to give her treatment, but they couldn’t locate the poor thing.
With his help, we picked up the animal and I got some brewed tea from the park guard and we got busy applying the tea to the cat’s eyes. Apparently caffeine present in the tea helps draw out irritants out of the eye while moistening the tissues around it.
After a few treatments the cat opened up her eyes and was able to see again. It was like heaven to me; I was absolutely beside myself. We were able to restore the cat’s eyesight. Imagine that! Making a change in the life of a poor, desperate and defenseless creature and give her what she thought had lost forever. We took the kitty to a sheltered and designated area in the park where other kitties were kept there as well for safeguard.
In the end I thanked the gentleman who warmheartedly assisted me in my mission of the day and went on for another 30 minute of my walk.
My message for the day is God sends us all clear messages every minute of our path to contribute to the ongoing process of life in this planet. Life is all about give and take. One day we receive the biggest miracle of our life and another day we do someone a good turn. So let’s be present and listen to the inner voices and act upon them immediately for the only way to fulfill our destiny and find our purpose in life is to follow our heart.
Restoring the kitty’s eyesight was my calling for the day. What was yours?
God bless and stay put for tomorrow’s message!
