| First fertility center via ‘telemedicine’ network to kick off |

TEHRAN - Jahad Daneshgahi (Iranian Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research) announced the launch of the very first infertility center through telemedicine on August 8, 2013.
Dr. Saaed Qazi Maghrebi, the deputy chief of the research and technology department of Jahad Daneshgahi, told a press conference on August 5th that the complex would also have a center designated for diseases and health conditions that stem cells show promising treatments for them.
Dr. Maghrebi explained that there are 50 fertility centers currently operating in the country and based on statistics around 15% of married couples are infertile, therefore such centers are perfect places for these couples to take advantage of.
Telemedicine is the use of telecommunication and information technologies in order to provide clinical health care at a distance. It helps eliminate distance barriers and can improve access to medical services that would often not be consistently available in distant rural communities. It is also used to save lives in critical care and emergency situations.
