POLDOKHTAR, Lorestan Province - A forest fire which broke out in the western city of Poldokhtar, Lorestan Province, on Wednesday was contained after 52 hours, according to Fereydoun Rashidi, a local official. The fire broke out at 9:00 a.m. local time and burned its way through at least 500 hectares. A number of firefighters were called in to perform the burn-out operation, but wind and mountainousness of the area made it difficult to put out the fire, Rashidid said on Thursday. According to the MNA, a fire-fighting helicopter was dispatched to the scene from Kermanshah Province since Lorestan’s fire stations are not equipped with fire-fighting helicopters.
