Premarital counseling is a must: psychologist http://tehrantimes.com/society/110536-premarital-counseling-is-a-must-psychologist- http://tehrantimes.com/society/110536-premarital-counseling-is-a-must-psychologist- TEHRAN - A psychologist believes that receiving counseling before tying the knot should become obligatory for couples.

Professor Masoud Darabi, in an interview with the Persian service of the Mehr News Agency published on Saturday, said that couple therapy prior to taking the plunge increases marital satisfaction and reduces the likelihood of divorce.

Receiving premarital training can teach couples proper communication skills, better conflict resolution methods and more intimate relationship, Darabi reasoned.

A lot of time young men and women don’t have a comprehensive understanding of each other’s habits and personalities and without seeking help, small issues can grow into major differences and eventually end in divorce, said Darabi.

The professor insisted on promoting the culture of couple sessions before new couples sign the marriage license.
