Iran is to play Uzbekistan on Wednesday in the 2012 AFC U-16 Championship semifinals in Tehran’s Dastgerdi Stadium.
“Uzbekistan is a strong team and has always been a favorite to win the title in this category; they play as the Soviet Union played. We have a difficult task ahead of us on Wednesday,” he added.
“We are going to beat them to book a place in the final match. I’ve seen their matches and have a good knowledge of the team. We will try some new tactics against Uzbekistan,” Iran’s U-16 coach said.
“Asian football has improved during the last few years. You see some big teams such as defending champion North Korea, Australia and South Korea being eliminated from the competition,” Doustimehr said.
“I hope that the fans support us in the match against Uzbekistan. We need the media to back their team as well,” Doustimehr stated.
