Iran wants to win WABA, Becirovic says

c_330_235_16777215_0___images_stories_edim_13-1(161).jpgTEHRAN - Iran basketball coach Memi Becirovic has said that Iran is going to win the title of the 2013 West Asian Basketball Association (WABA) Championship.
 
The WABA tournament will be held from February 7 to 11 in the Tehran’s Azadi Basketball Hall.
 
“Iran will compete in the competition with its best players since we want to win the title,” Becirovic said. 
 
“Iran will host the competition and we want to show a good performance in front of our fans. I think the match against Lebanon will be spectacular since the Lebanese team has come here with the full squad,” the 52-year-old Slovenian added. 
 
The competition will bring four teams, namely Iran, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq together.  Syria withdrew from the competition. The two best teams excluding Iran will qualify for 2013 FIBA Asia Championship.
 
The 2013 WABA Championship is the qualifying tournament for the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship. 
 
The 2013 FIBA Asia Championship will be held from August 1 to 11 in Manila, Philippines.
 
The competition serves as the qualifying tournament for the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain.
