Iran cruises to FIBA Asia finals

The Persians remained undefeated after beating Chinese Taipei 79-60 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay. 
 
Mehdi Kamrany led Iran with 19 points, six rebounds and six assists. 
 
Mehmed Becirovic’s boys crushed Malaysia, 115-25, to open its FIBA-Asia campaign on a resounding note, then earned the convincing wins over South Korea, 76-65, China, 70-51 and India, 102-58 respectively. The Iranian outfit beat Bahrain 75-56 and Kazakhstan 85–53 and outclassed Jordan 94-50 in the quarterfinal. 
 
Iran will face host nation Philippines in the final match on Sunday. The Philippines defeated South Korea 86-79. 
 
“We had a bad start but we adjusted and towards the end, we deserved to win,” Iran’s Slovenian coach Becirovic said in the post match news conference.
 
The top three finishers will represent Asia at the FIBA World Cup to be played in Spain next year.
