|Giti Pasand beats Al Sadd at AFC Futsal Club Championship||
Title-holder Sanaye Giti Pasand defeated Qatar’s Al Sadd on Tuesday in the 2013 AFC Futsal Club Championship in Nagoya, Japan.
The Iranian outfit beat Al Sadd 3-2 in Group B while last year’s runner up Ardus of Uzbekistan was held to a 2-2 draw by Chonburi Blue Wave of Thailand in the group.
Ahmad Esmaeilpour gave Giti Pasand a dream start by netting the opener inside the first sixty seconds before Mohammed Taheri doubled the lead just two minutes later.
Al Sadd hit back four minutes later through Samer Samih and the forward levelled the contest with his and the Qatar champions' second in the 25th minute.
Mahdi restored the Iranians' advantage in the 37th minute with what transpired to be the match-winner although Al Sadd could have salvaged a point at the death but Ibrahim Rashid faltered in a one-versus-one situation with Giti Pasand keeper Sepehr Mohammadi with just seconds remaining.
“It was a difficult opening indeed and some key decisions also went against us but I trusted my players from the word go and they managed to score goals,” Giti Pasand coach Reza Aliabady told AFC.
Giti Pasand will face Chonburi Blue Wave on Wednesday and Ardus Tashkent in the following day.
Sanaye Giti Pasand claimed the title of the 2012 Futsal Club Championship with a 2-1 victory over Uzbekistan’s Ardus.
The competition has brought together eight teams, namely host Nagoya Oceans, Sanaye Giti Pasand (Iran), Ardus (Uzbekistan), Chonburi Bluewave (Thailand), Shenzhen Nanling (China), Thai Son Nam (Vietnam), Al Sadd (Qatar) and Al Sadaka (Lebanon).
