TEHRAN - Olympic bronze medalist Yousef Karami will not compete at the 2016 Olympic Games.
The Iranian taekwondo athlete is going to retire after competing at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
“I will quit after the 2014 Asian Games. The Olympic Games will be held in 2016 and I don’t know what happened to me by that time. I want to give the youngsters the opportunity to compete at the prestigious event,” Mehr news agency quoted Karami as saying on Tuesday.
“I will participate in the 2014 Asian Games for the last time and I want to win a medal at the games,” Karami added.
Karami won the bronze medal in Athens in 2004 after beating Azerbaijan’s Rashad Ahmadov at the men's-80kg.
